Natural Pool Maintenance Bali
A natural pool is not a chlorine pool with plants added. It is a small ecosystem, and it needs looking after the way a garden does — attentively, seasonally, and by someone who understands what they are looking at.
We maintain natural pools across Bali, whether we built them or not. Our staff are trained specifically to keep a natural pool at safe and optimum function — this is not general pool servicing with a net and a chlorine tablet. Packages start at IDR 1,000,000 per month.
What we do
Skimming and debris removal. In Bali, things grow fast and drop constantly. Leaf litter in the skimmers restricts flow, and restricted flow is the root cause of nearly every problem a natural pool can have. This is the single most important recurring task.
Regeneration zone care. Thinning plants that are growing too enthusiastically, dividing them when they get crowded, removing anything dying back, and checking that root systems and gravel are not silting up. This is the part most general pool services are not equipped to do.
Water clarity checks. Not chemical dosing — there is nothing to dose. We are watching nutrient load, clarity, temperature and biological balance, and adjusting circulation or planting when the readings drift.
Circulation and equipment. Pump operation, flow rates, skimmer function, and the gravel bed’s condition over time.
Seasonal work. Cutting back and dividing planting, checking the bed, and adjusting the service pattern between the wet and dry seasons.
What it costs
Packages start at IDR 1,000,000 per month and are quoted against your pool. Three things move the number:
- Size — a compact plunge pool and a resort lagoon are different jobs
- Visit frequency — twice a week through the dry season, three to four times a week through the wet season
- Site conditions — heavy overhanging planting means considerably more skimming than an open site
There are no chemical costs to pass on, because there are no chemicals. That is a real difference from a conventional pool service, where a meaningful share of what you pay each month is chlorine, acid and stabiliser.
Wet season and dry season are different jobs
The dry season, roughly April to October, is the simpler half of the year: monitoring evaporation, topping up, keeping the biology stable.
The wet season is more demanding. Heavy rain dilutes the water and flushes the system, organic matter loads into the filter zone faster, and debris accumulates quickly. We step up to three or four visits a week from November through March. We would rather build that into the plan from the start than have you discover it in January.
What is not included
Structural repairs, replanting after storm damage, equipment replacement and water delivery are quoted separately. We will always tell you before doing anything that costs extra.
If you would rather do it yourself
Plenty of owners handle the weekly skim themselves and bring us in for the seasonal work — the planting, the gravel bed, the things that are easy to get wrong. That is a perfectly good arrangement and often the most cost-effective one.
We are also happy to hand over a maintenance plan and train your existing villa staff, which suits properties that already have someone on site.
