Coral Cove

A natural reef-inspired plunge pool that feels like you’re swimming in the ocean. With its freeform shape and coral-coloured interior inset with shells, Coral Cove feels like slipping into a secret rock pool to cool off.

The idea

Most pools announce themselves. This one hides. The outline is deliberately irregular — no straight runs, no visible coping line — so from a few metres away it reads as something the site already had rather than something that was installed. The interior is finished in warm coral tones rather than blue, which changes the water colour completely: it goes green-gold in the afternoon instead of that swimming-pool turquoise.

Shells and coral fragments set into the plaster catch the light underwater. It’s a detail you notice with your feet before your eyes.

How the filtration sits

Because the footprint is small, the regeneration zone usually works best as a separate planted basin tucked to one side or slightly below, linked by a short channel. That keeps the swimming area generous while the biology does its work out of sight. On a tight site this is often the difference between a natural pool being possible and not.

Where it works

Compact plots, courtyard gardens, and villas where the pool is a cooling-off spot rather than a place to swim laps. It suits sites with partial shade — dappled light works with the reef feeling rather than against it.

Worth knowing

Plunge pools are the easiest natural pool to fit onto a small property, but they’re also the least forgiving on regeneration-zone sizing. Undersize it and clarity suffers. It’s the first thing we’d work through with you.
