Lagoon Luxe

Design concept · Resort

A chic, tropical resort lagoon, perfect for stylish villa guests. Wide curves, shallow entry ‘beach’, lush tropical planting with colour pops.

The idea

Lagoon Luxe is the most generous of these concepts, and the most sociable. Wide sweeping curves rather than tight freeform, a shallow shelf you can put a chair on, and a gradual beach entry that works for children and for anyone who wants to sit in 20cm of water with a drink.

The planting is deliberately less restrained than the other concepts — heliconia, frangipani, colour at the margins rather than a purely green palette.

How the filtration sits

At this scale the regeneration zone can stop hiding and become part of the composition: a broad planted shallows along one edge, reading as the lagoon’s natural margin. Guests generally don’t register it as filtration at all. Larger water volumes are also more biologically stable — more forgiving of a busy weekend than a small pool is.

Where it works

Villas that take paying guests, boutique resorts and eco-lodges. Anywhere the pool is doing commercial work: it’s the photograph that sells the booking, and a chlorine-free lagoon is a genuine differentiator on a listing page.

Worth knowing

This is the largest footprint of the seven, and it wants space to be convincing — squeezed onto a small plot the curves stop working. The upside is that operating cost per swimmer falls as the pool grows, so for a property hosting guests year-round the running-cost case is stronger here than anywhere else in this collection.
